Wow...what a day!
Had a doc appointment for Reag at 10:40 this a.m. cause he been havn headaches and sore throat since Friday. My thoughts were....sinus infection or hereditary migraines due to me and my mom having them bad and possibly needing new RX for his glasses.
So...we get to doc at 10:20. At 11:15 we were taken into the room. At 11:20 he was swabbed for Strep. At 1:00 I walked out to nurse's station to ask what was going on. She said, "Why?" I said, ma'am...I've been here for over 2.5 hours!! She said, "OH! Let me go see what's going on." She disappears and returns in a minute to inform me that she had found his chart in the lab. Then she said, "I put it on top of the pile and as soon as she gets out of the room she is in...she will come see him next." I said, ok.
At 1:30..."she" walks in. She said, "How are you?" I said, slightly aggravated!! She looked at me soI said, We have been in this office for 3 hours!! She said, "I apologize...and by the way...his strep came back negative so let me check him out." She checked him out....said everything sounded and looked normal and THEN tells me, "Let me go to the lab to see his blood" and walks out of room before I could even gather my thoughts to say....UH HELLO...he didn't get any blood taken!! 1:50 a totally different nurse walks in with a lab tray. I said, What are you doing? She says, "taking his blood". I said, why? She said, "we need to check it". I said, for WHAT?!!! (At this point I was really getting frustrated!!!) She says, "Everything". I said, ok...how long is THIS going to take? She said, "THIS is going to take 5-10 minutes cause I just have to run it through the machine.....I can't say when 'she' will be back in." And with that out she goes! At 2:10 "she", who happened to be a nurse practitioner, came back in...said, "Everything in his blood came back normal (they were checking for mono and some other things) so I'm going to treat him for a sinus infection!" In all honesty, people, at this point I ALMOST jumped up onto the bed and yelled....EXACTLY!! Lol! But I didn't :) I kept very calm thru all of this. (The capitalized words were only said with a slight eyebrow raise and slight inflection of voice.) Then she says, "If he's not better by this time next week bring him back. But regardless...I wana see him back when meds are done (two weeks) cause if he still havn headaches he's going to neurologist."
I walk out to receptionist desk where the nurse I'd first talked to was. She says, "You have to schedule an appointment?" I said, yes...in one week. She says, "What time?" I said, morning. She said, "Ten o'clock so you don't have to wait?" I literally snorted out loud at this point and desperately wanted to say....what....40 min diff on the scheduled time will really make THAT much of a diff? If I was scheduled this time at 10:40 and was in the office for FOUR hours....what diff would havn an appointment at 10 make? LOL!!! She looked at me after I'd snorted and I could tell she wasn't amused in the slightest bit.
You know what's "funny" about all this? They literally forgot we were in that room!! His chart had been taken to the lab with his strep culture and then that nurse had disappeared. Only due to me walking out to the nurses station reminded them they had a patient in the room furthest in the corner!! Sigh. Had I not needed to go run to pick up the other kids from school by this point....I think I might have just stayed in there to see how long it would have taken them to open the door and see us in there :) We woulda been moldy!!!
What a day :)
