I made it!!!

Here is a diaper cake that I made for a lady's (in our church) baby shower. It was so much fun.

Today was my grandmother's 84th birthday party. I made her cake for her. She has been an avid quilte for...well.... longer than my lifetime. We had a big get together with over 50 people at a park in Allensville. It was great to see family I haven't seen in probably a good 5 years. Gram didn't even know the cake was for her until I told her. It was a challenge to make the scissors! Everything is made out of fondant and I had a hoot.

As the subject title says....I made it!! I arrived on planet earth at 9:45, September 20th. Weighed in at 7 lb. and 7 oz. and was 18 inches long. My parents had prayed hard for a baby girl and God blessed (?) them with....ME!!! This was when I was 4 months old.
This adorable picture is when I was only 2. Don't you just love the couch I was sitting on? Wow! Talk about a fashion statement!! I'm actually quite surprised that this baby had clothes on. Most all pictures of me with babies I'd taken their clothes off!! Course mom could have dressed this one for the occaision. :-)
Yikes...I went from the above to this!!! I never dreamed I'd even be alive at 30!! Ha! Thought surely God would've returned by now! I feel so old! Actually, not really. I have been shaking over the fact that I can no longer say I'm in my 20's!! People always found that fasinating when they found out I had 5 kids and was in my 20's. Now they'll just look at me and nod their head in agreement to the age I look!! Sigh. Yes, if you look really close...you can see what my hair color USED to be right there on the peak of my forehead. And no, Brian Ellwood Tolley....I'm not using Depends and a seeing-eye dog!!! But hey, thanks for the voicemail commenting as such!!

What a beautiful cake for your Grandma! I have never done anything with fondant, but I may have yo try sometime. It looks like fun! The diaper cake was very cute, too. I want to make one of those sometime. You were such a cute baby. Those were the days, huh! I would have been 4, so I'm sure I probably held you at some point and thought you were a living doll. Where hasc the time gone?
