On our way back from MD after the funeral for Tom Funkhouser we stopped in Bedford Springs to check out a resort Troll had heard about. My Pap had told him that one of my great aunts used to work here. I can't remember when it was built but the place was absolutely gorgeous. 11 of our presidents stayed here back in the day with President Buchannon staying 40 summers in a row...making this his summer White House. It was really cool. I love the whole time period with the big gowns, ball rooms and all that so it was pretty thrilling to me. The place had flooded and was abandoned for 20 years and it 2003 someone else bought it and renovated it. Here are just a few pics I took.
I loved the staircases which were EVERYWHERE!!

 This was President Buchannon's desk.

One side of the outside. I couldn't get the entire place in my phone camera. This was to the right of the original brick structure and then to the left was another entire wing!

One of the many ballrooms they had! Sigh. This was so cool.

One of the dining areas set with crystal and silver. Beautiful.

I will have to do a couple posts I guess to put in some more pictures. Troll and Mr. Corman were just as thrilled as I was being they were the REAL history buffs. I love history but was more fascinated with the era it came from. One of these days Troll and I plan to go here to stay. :)
