Camp Freedom, Florida

After enjoying a week filled with warm weather and busyness I've come back to the frigid North to get back into the groove. I flew to Florida with Ethan and Ambria to help my mom out during Camp. She has two prison babies, ages 2 months and 6 months, and had allot of responsabilites with lodging, entertaining, etc. That was my first expierience with flying alone and I survived!! YEAH!! It was up to 82 degrees the day I left and I was loving it. We got to Harrisburg a little after 11 Saturday evening and got home around 1:10 a.m. on Sunday. Due to all this I wasn't able to attend Youth Convention at Beavertown until the last service on Sunday. However, from what I hear it was another awesome event. Two girls that are very special to me got saved Saturday night at convention and I praise the Lord for that.

A couple funny things happened while I was in Florida that I thought you might like to read about. Of course the involve our darling 3 year old and all his mischevious comments. So here goes.

Ethan was not impressed with Florida in the least. He told me every day that he wanted to go home. The minute we got to camp he said this and I knew I was in for trouble. One day he was sitting outside the dining hall playing with another little boy when a guy that went to the church Troll and I first pastored walked out and started talking to him and asking him questions. He handled it for a little while (all this is on hearsay from another lady as I was not present) and then looked at the man and said, "Would you please leave?" I was mortified when I heard this story even though the lady who told me was laughing and I started to laugh. You know that nervous kind of laugh when you know one of your children has just embarrased you when you weren't present!! I went to this person the next time I saw them and appologized to him for Ethan's ocmment. The man's wife was laughing hysterically over it and he told me he hadn't thought anything of it. Thankfully!!

Another day Ethan had finished eating before me and said he was done so I told him to take his tray up to the counter by the trash can. About 30 seconds later I looked around to see he was no where in sight and neither was his tray. I exclaimed to the lady sitting by me that I thought he might have thrown his tray away. So one of the tray cleaner guys looked in the trash and there was his tray, silverware, cup and all!! I guess all he got out of my "take-your-tray-up-there" comment was the trash part! Guess that's what happens when you always use styrofoam plates at home due to the size of your counter space and the lack there of.

Ambria fell deeply in love with my dad during camp. She can't say "Gramps" so she started calling him "Gee" (hard "g"). During service or anything it was "where's 'Gee'?" She'd stand up on the pew, point and say, "Gee, gee, gee!" It was really cute. She also fell in love with mom's one prison baby. The 6 month old boy, Seamus. He's a real butterball and loved her, too, except for when she kept trying to give him his pacifier when he didn't want it.

All in all it was a nice time. Hopefully I helped mom as much as she needed help. The flights home went well. We had a 4 hour layover in Atlanta which was a little on the miserable side but both kids did very well for the entertainer they had to deal with!! I did feel pretty good when a business man lookeed at me and said he had to hand it to me for doing a good job at kepeing them occupied.

So alas...I'm home and hope to do better at this blogging thing. Thanks to all those that have commented on the blog and in person about how it is something you enjoy. That really boosts a person's spirit. Tolley-ho for now.

Hi, Gwen,

I will confess that I am a "silent lurker" and check your blog almost daily for updates although I scarcely know you! I really enjoy the peeks into your world that you offer through your blog. May God bless as you continue to minister to others and raise your children to do the same!
