Reagan News
Well we had Reagan to Geisinger last Monday. The eye doctor was quick to realize that his glasses were wrong for him. Which leads down a long story road but I'll refrain. Basically the place we got Reagan's glasses accidentally switched his lenses to the wrong sides and cost his vision in his bad eye. When we moved from Ohio to PA he was almost 20/20 in his bad eye and is now 20/400 in that eye. Due to them putting the thicker lens on his good eye (R) and the thin on his bad eye (L) he now can't see at all with his glasses on. He quit using his bad eye and is totally messed up. I'm frustrated over all of it as now we have to go back through the mess of patching constantly and I'm afraid what it is going to do to him with school and all. As of now he's not wearing glasses. The place switched the lenses back but due to his eyes getting "used" to the wrong stuff he can't see out of either side with the glasses. We are waiting for them to get new prescription in so that we can get him back on the right road. He put them on and just started crying. I couldn't stand the tears so I said to not wear them at all. So far it's not caused him to suffer in his school but I'm wondering what is going to happen when we start patching his good eye again. We've been through all this and had surgery when he was three years old and he was doing soooooo good. Thank the Lord the eye doctor said he shouldn't have to have surgery; that the patch should get him down the right path. I was so thankful for that. The lady at the eye glass place was very apologetic and said she'd find out who had caused this situation and caused him to "loose" sight in this eye. They are also paying for his new lenses. THAT was a HUGE blessing. Not that I needed that blessing at this time as far as having my son's vision failed due to an error in an eye glasses place!!! So, if you think of him...please pray for him. He started crying when I told him he had to start wearing the patch again all the time. It really wears on him. We did if for numerous months before his surgery and they finally opted for surgery. This time surgery isn't needed but it's going to be grueling to him I'm sure.

The latest
Here are a few cakes I did the week before Easter. The first was for a baby shower for a lady at our church. She works on a farm and we wanted to incorporate cows somehow. I came up with this theme. The next two cakes were for a surprise party for Troll's brother's girl,Peyton, and Austin. She turned 11 on the 26th (Happy Bday, Peyton) and Austin is turning 10 on April 14th. He is really into military stuff and reading about wars in the past. (History buff like his dad). All items on the cakes were made out of fondant. I had a really fun time with these. The airplane was a bit of a challenge. However, thanks to a couple big books Austin has about airplane history I was able to come up with a pretty close rendition of a Hawker Hurricane. The tail of the other "plane" was the closest I could get to a Messerschmitt Me 262- a German jet fighter that did not enter combat until July 1944. Ok. I'll stop with the History.

Kid's Komments
We were sitting in church on Sunday evening listening to another phenomenal message by our Pastor about the dangers of the tongue. He mentioned that he found out that it was easier to tell the truth "now" about something you did wrong than to wait 6 months and the truth be FOUND out. He said that it is easier for someone to be able to look at you and say, I trust you. While he said those words "I trust you" he pointed his finger into the congregation. Evidently it was leveled right at Ethan. He turned huge eyes to me and with a look of astonishment said, "He trusts ME???"
A few days ago I was telling Reagan that on the Monday after Easter I'd be taking him to Geisinger hospital for the doctor there to check his eyes. His worst eye has been turning in again and so we decided it was time to take action. He had surgery on both his eyes when he was 3 and it turned into a really ugly situation where this mommy about came undone. I'll not get into all that. However, after I said this he looked at me with concern and said, "Are they going to cut me again?" I told him that they were not and they'd just be putting drops in his eyes to dilate them. From my left side came shrills of "I don't wanna die...I don't wanna die!!" I hadn't been paying the least bit of attention to who was standing beside me up until this point and when I turned I saw a very apprehensive Ethan just crying away!! I tired about 3 times to inform him that nobody was dying and that I said dilate. Every time I said dilate, though, he into crying again, "I don't wanna die...I don't wanna die." I gave up. It wasn't doing any good. In my years of being around kids I've figured out a few things and one of them is...you can't reason with a three year old.

Not quite as exciting
Well nothing quite as exciting as last post. I did forget one story though. I knew there was something I was missing in the last post but for the life of me couldn't remember. Thought of it the other day and wondered how I could have forgotten.
I was doing laundry (now remember...all this stuff happened in the same week) and put a "fresh" load into the washer. Went back upstairs to do whatever it is that I do all day long. About an hour later I figured it was high time to get back down there and switch that load to the dryer and the dryer load to the laundry basket (to fold whenever I felt led to). I'd no sooner got to the bottom of the steps when I realized something was terribly amiss. Water was everywhere. (Must be something with us and liquids!) Here our drain hose, which is up at ceiling level, had come out and done the Macarena while I was completely unaware. Water was everywhere. (I said that didn't I?)I did start laughing as I realized it had to have been the funniest thing to see that hose doing it's dance and spraying water everywhere. (How redundant) Took a few days to dry it all out. Cause water was everywhere!!!!
To make you feel like you haven't just wasted 5 minutes reading this I added the picture of Ambria and Troll. Caught her at the right angle to my pig calender to give her two more ears!! Probably the only liquid involved here was what was being added to Troll's hair or quite possibly pooling around his neck!!!

Ever Wonder??

Have you ever wondered what could happen next? Seriously, I think I'm ready to move back to Ohio and...
Actually it's not that bad! However, God sure is stretching our faith right now. Why do I say all this? Well Saturday morning our van decided it just couldn't handle hauling us around anymore. I mean... come on now... would you enjoy hauling seven Tolley's around day in and day out? It could become quite monotonous. Troll went out to start it to heat it up before he left for Allenwood and "BANG" it went; spewing oil and coolant all over the place. So Troll unloaded all the stuff and ran for our pastor's car (which thank the Lord was parked two doors down or Troll would have had a heart attack with his vehicle exploding and then running). He loaded it all into that and left. Monday my parents stopped in and my dad checked it all out. They put 3/4 of a quart of oil in it to see what would happen. Started right up it did, it did! And then it proceeded to spew oil once again. (I have a feeling underneath our dear, beloved blue beast it looks rather muggy!)So we have determined that we are done being hauled by the dear. It's been a wonderful vehicle. Taken us from 11,500 miles when we got it to 178,000 miles now. We've had it almost 7 years. Never given us any fits. However, the last few summers the A/C has decided it no longer felt like cooling, the heater decided it really didn't need to be warming this winter and the driver's window went on strike this past fall. Other than it leaking in a few spots so that whoever was sitting in the back seat would get wet as it ran down their seat belt and the carpet is wet so that it smells like a sick mutt....it's been a great vehicle!! Now we get to do the thing Troll seriously hates most....car shop! Lord, please help me as I struggle with keeping my husband in a decent frame of mind so that I can find us a good vehicle!!
And THEN...today.
I got home from the grocery store and opened up the pantry to put our food in. First I had to steal all the Boxtops off the boxes so that I'd be prepared for when my kids attacked me every time their classes have a contest with those goofy cardboard things. Thankfully I only had a few to steal and so went to put the cereal away first. I thought I'd check the existing boxes to see how many crumbs were left in each one when I noticed that some of the boxes felt damp. Upon further investigation I realized that not only were some of the boxes damp on that top shelf...they were quite soggy and in dire need of someones attention. That wasn't the only shelf that had been baptized either. The farther down I got in shelves the more I realized we had a serious situation. An hour and a garbage bag full later... I saw we needed a plumber? Ha!! No, nothing but a 1/3 of our pantry ceiling caving in from all the water it was holding! Course not that it had much more to hold as it was all in the boxes in the garbage bag and on top of cans. I mean to tell you it was so wet in some spots that noodles had started to cook themselves and they were laying there all nice and smooshy waiting for my fingers to find them. Kinda reminded me of sinking my fingers into those rotten potatoes on that crop farm I used to work at as a teen. Nothing worse than that. Thankfully those noodles didn't smell like those potatoes. So anyway, that's been the exciting thing around here. Not much really. Just thought you might enjoy a weekend in our house.
